First step is to take a look at your mons, the best mons to use are pure attackers, those that are going to self sustain. Some examples of self sustain are Fire Wildfang, Wood Boltwing, Wood Arthur. All three of these can be used as pure attackers, built atk% atk% atk% on a defensive type set, such as def,hp, or resistance. If your attackers isn't a self sustain such as Wood Banshee, then you will need a defensive gem, def would be best.
